I found it truly amazing and very inspiring to see every element handled with personal care, by families who are working here for years! No wonder several premium brands llike to work with Hoffmann. Within this gallery I´ve tried to capture the whole process from the beginning to the end. Obviously supporting my new friend Ralph. He´s the future! Before runnin´ to the gallery straight away, it´s nice to know the opening will be on Saturday March 13 at 4PM. I have to add this small detail of information which is extremely vital for all of those who´re really into the music by Delic: all of the paintings in this exhibition are for sale. The money will be used to spend on new, premium hardware for Delic to work on his solo record. Oh yes I said it. Delic will be back! Whether it´s fully instrumental or experimental world music, I´m eagerly waiting for it!

These enduring and hard-working people are very dependent on the alpaca, literally their only trade product, to provide them with food, clothing and everything else.Alpaca fleece is soft and contains almost no lanolin, which makes it hypoallergenic. The unique hollow core of the fibre gives the alpaca wool a natural insulation that keeps in or lets out body heat according to body warmth and the temperature of the surrounding environment.

Now that´s exactly why The Inoue Brothers came down all the way to Bolivia to create the hand-knitted Alpaca garments through a network of traditional knitters. And that´s also why these products last. For ever!

Because they are of the finest craftsmanship and produced with pride and extraordinary skill by professional mothers! Let me explain. In 2005 the brothers Satoru & Kiyoshi formed a unique collaboration, which is still active today, with the people of Bolivia to create hand-knitted Alpaca garments through a network of traditional Bolivian knitters; artisan mothers working from home, unable to leave for a city job due to family commitments. Why Bolivia? I´ve been told the Alpaca wool is extra extraordinary in it´s kind. Let me start a little ´history lesson´.

I´m not convinced, yet, after browsing some video´s and viewing photos I would use the nifty Nexus. This may sound superficial but I like my devices to look sexy. Compared to the iPhone, the Nexus One is the smart nephew with a lot of online friends, but he´s not having a relationship with any type of girl, uknowwhatI´msaying?! He´s a cloud-based piece of hardware. The iPhone is a device-dependent piece of hardware which is looking good. Then again, the most beautiful women do like to marry the smart guys nowadays. Will the 5 mega pixel camera make the difference? For now, we in Europe, can only guess. I must add the live wallpapers inspired me hahaha!

In the 10 years Nike ID is up & runnin´ Nike have learned a lot about their customers as they´ve engaged them online, at events and in ID studios. Throughout this decade-long crusade to inspire everyone to customize their perfect product, one insight continues to be abundantly clear: design inspiration is everywhere. > Use Flags. Especially in Mail this nifty feature is perfect to use for top priority messages.

> Use shortcuts. Even Gmail has integrated keyboard commands to increase your behavior when writing, reading or deleting mail. Not saying to switch to the dark side by becoming a keyboard junkie, but yes I do encourage some limited use of short cuts hahaha.

> Focus. Let mail be mail and do not allow distraction via chat, notes or other rubbish. Google Wave will eventually succeed on that combination for you.

> Behave. Do not send several e-mails when people aren´t replying fast enough. They probably cope with the same packed inbox as most people do. A short reply doesn´t mean either there is no interest.

> Get a break. Less meetings make things more possible. Commit yourself to spend serious time on mail at least 3 parts of your day.

> Intimacy. By sending real post cards you´ll add personal value and intimacy plus you´re most certain the receiver will not reply via email. Right?

I must add, this is one of those films you´ll appreciate after seeing it over and over again. Definitely Blu-ray DVD material. Meanwhile I was reading her biography. Seems she´s a busy lady. I mean, besides releasing books she illustrates for gents like Marvel Comics, New York Times, Wall Street Journal and Playgirl. Nuff said right!? A bossy award-winning artist with an unique vision and conviction. Wouldn´t it be funny to see waiters in tuxedos, silver service, private dining areas, and packaging co-created with fashion brands like Burberry burgers, Gucci fries (in white packaging), Paul Smith (Sundaes) adding fun among the serious business of fashion with comfort food among all the elaborate cocktail fare.

I´m glad to hear Amsterdam-based design firm UXUS is responsible for the interior environment for the private dining rooms in McFancy. Great to have some Dutch flavor in this project! Now I´m curious if the nouveau riche will go see Maccy D! These kinds of initiatives are making me super excited about the new year! I´m Lovin´ It hahaha.

Magazines (like Monocle) have articles you can curl up with and lose yourself in, with luscious photography that draws the eye. And they're so easy and enjoyable to read. Is it possible to combine what's best about magazines with the always connected, portable tablet e-readers sure to arrive in 2010? Mag will let the articles run in scrolls, not pages, and are placed side-to-side in kind of mountain range. Still, I like the sense of completion at the end of each page.

With Mag you flip through by shifting focus. Tap the pictures on the left of the screen to flip through the mag, tap text on the right to dive in. It´s like stepping into a space for "quiet reading". You can also heat up the words and pics to share, comment, and to dig into supplementary material online! Maybe if the form is clear enough then every mag, no matter how niche, can look gorgeous, be super easy to understand, and have a great reading experience. I wonder who will offer the first platform to subscribe for digital magazines on your tablet!?

First of all, I think it would be great if you can select colors yourself for every layer of your favorite sneaker model. Let´s say we would design an Air Max 1. I´ll take a photo of an inspirational landscape to use this color palette for my AM1. It would be even more interesting if you can select different kinds of materials to take the decoration process to a more advanced level. Or maybe you´ll have to earn that feature. At least it will make sense if you all can do this with your iPhone, save it in your locker and do the finishing touch at an ID studio. Any more ideas?

Okay, maybe you have to do one more thing. Before watching AVATAR I read this in-depth article at Wired and I recommend you to do the same. It gives you more insight about James´ vision. This guys seriously takes this whole movie making game to another level. I mean, it´s in high quality 3D. If you see how good the smallest details of the animals look like?frikkin´ amazing.

Sure, you have to sit down 162 minutes wearing some silly 3D-glasses. That´s the only thing that slightly frustrated me the first minutes. After that I completely forgot about it. This visual journey in the world of Pandora is mind blowing. Don´t be afraid of the script, the story line is still very ´Americaaa´ but it´s not bad actually. AVATAR gave the same feeling I got after I saw Princess Mononoke. In the end, this is about our world. And Cameron finally made his pace epic to rival Star Wars, which I really enjoyed!

I mean, a stunning view like you seen on the photo above is just amazing. And that´s your room view! You have another 360 view on the roof terrace! The only comment I had to make is the stupidity of the elevators. This is the only hotel I´ve been where I literally had to walk down the stairs 7 floors. Luckily free-wifi helps getting me in a good mood so here I am writing this post quickly before leaving. A lot of words just to say; bookmark this hotel into your favorites!

They made this lovely commercial for Nike Football on Dam square in the center of Amsterdam. Although I like the video, I can´t take this site serious. Come on! What would Japan think of this? They will be far more next level with some site in 3D and I can´t compete with that. Even the Danish will have more style! And when the gents in Cameroon find wi-fi I´m sure they will deliver something far more better than this. Would it be fair to demand a better website by the end of this month? I think so. This nifty piece of hardware, which for now is an extension of your iPhone, will create a lot of new business opportunities. Now you can basically start your ´pop-up´ store everywhere or even the street-artists on dam square can charge you up to 40 euro for standing still, doing nothing. Here´s a little video to see how Square is used to pay for coffee. It´s not there yet, but makes me exciting for the times when RFID is a standard part todays hardware in all our (mobile) devices.

They already integrated the ´do well by doing good´ element haha. Another sign Square is becoming big! When companies are immediately willing do donate a penny for every transaction to a cause of your choice, you know they will grow massively. And so do their investors hahaha. I can´t wait to start using Square and charge people for random advice and jokes in the middle of the day hahaha. Not to mention the possilbe link with mobile-game app Foursquare! Be there or be Square.

Well, during my talk I got excited by the dialog I had with the roadies. Eventually they asked me to join their trip on one of the electric scooters. I replied that would be fun in some way. How could I know it was bloody cold and raining outside!? I nearly survived without my thermal clothing but eventually it was all fun. I made some movies with my iPhone and what you´ll notice is the fact how fascinating it is to hear no sound of an engine. Finally you can have the proper conversations on your scoot mobile you always wanted. I only wished it was Summer!

I also got to know the reason behind all this fuzz a bit more. I´m sure you´re familiar with the fact this December Copenhagen will host the 15th United Nations Climate Change Convention (COP15)?! All the suits will negotiate about a new global climate treaty to replace the Kyoto Protocol. This group of young people like to inspire world leaders with their recommendations about fighting global warming. At home I did my research about the brand. In every industry I really enjoy the care for craftsmanship besides innovation. Blue de Paname is such a brand with a love for the products and eye for detail. Everything becomes clear when viewing this short video. The old-school manufacture of clothing. Even the leather they use is produced in the Provence! This is where I get excited.

My enthusiasm became even bigger when I´m proudly sharing this latest discovery with 290 square meters which results in shop-owner Ido bluntly saying he´s already in the know. That proves we´re on the same page haha. Bleu de Paname will be for sale at Amsterdam´s finest boutique January 2010 and, as I said, the latest collection is already available at A Cut Above in Antwerp.

about/ this latest collection originally called Fall 09: it´s all inspired on the evolution of des Halles de Paris as well the Grand Prix de Paris - International de Vitesse. This becomes more clear in the small details like the use fabrics and the process of creation. Je t´aime the functional design of the denim or should I say pantalon? The back pockets, selvedge, the sewing patterns, it all looks très beautiful! mes amis! Essayer vous-même!

Obviously we´re really excited about offering such a service to a global audience. Therefore we´re eager to hear your feedback whether it´s on the twitta or a comment in this post. Many of the albums or vinyl records I bought during my life were not only because of the music. I think most of them were actually because of the artwork. For me album covers always somehow reflects the music and the better the artwork, the better the music must be. This resulted in a few impulsive, maybe unnecessary, purchases. At least I now got some good design to look at hahaha. While the music industry is struggling I stay positive about the role of album artwork.

Although I´ve built a significantly digital music collection, I prefer the physical form for the artworks instead of looking at a jpeg of 130x130 pixels. That´s the main reason I occasionally buy vinyl. Sure, the medium isn´t perfect being a DJ when you´re traveling, but vinyl artwork proved to be still relevant. And I´m not talking funny shit like Sleeveface. I think it´s because of the album artwork, together with music that matters, sales of (web)stores like Rushhour went up this year.

MACHINE played a big role contributing to album artworks, just like HOTEL and Parra did. All defined a visual future for music whether it´s the album cover or the music video. Maybe music video´s are the new album covers? I´m sure Youtube would agree. I´ll keep featuring relevant artwork ´cause when you spent some serious time browsing these designs by MACHINE, I know you´ll think twice when passing by a record store. Make sure you put some music on while viewing the gallery!

Obviously he got more expertise on that front with De Jeugd van Tegenwoordig and LeLe. He recognized one thing; when you´re doing well, people will be negative about it. That doesn´t mean people envy you, but from the start you´re making some real money (and show it) the ´situation´ begins. Let me be clear, the only critique I got was about how companies are involved on my blog. Sure they like the clever business model, selling Wallpaper Backgrounds, but some people are confused or scared I might end up writing blog posts, influenced by those who are paying for that creative Wallpaper Background.

Calling me a sellout, because some believe I write about stuff I got paid for, is interesting. I´m writing stuff that needs to be heard. For the first time I somehow felt between a rock and a hard place like the Artifacts. How do you explain people the fact you´re making serious money with projects or brands you like? How do you explain expanding your horizon or pioneering includes making mistakes? How do you communicate the good without showing how many times I said ´no´ to brands I don´t like? How to make this whole commercial aspect of Nalden.net more transparent without losing my positive touch? I´ll start to share insights, experiment and will listen every once in a while haha.

I think there is a thin line between being credible and commercial. Yes, I do love the challenge to walk down that line and explore ways to work together with brands I really appreciate. Those who elevate each-other in terms of craftsmanship, innovation and style. Let those very same brands participate and contribute to all initiatives, good music and interesting people out there. I witnessed how the twitta is playing a massive role in this, making processes more transparent. Maybe I have to add a bit more life now I´m living the blog, flying Lotus and go global?!

It´s not that I´m into war and shit but I love the tagline of the label saying it´s Positively Superior. Now I own one of the darkest available indigo blue denims that´s known for the two Samurai war stripes on the right back pocket. The same outstanding white stripes that made me fall in love with this jeans. Including superior selvedge and being positively superior. This is your new crack haha!

In short, True Blood details the co-existence of vampires and humans in Bon Temps, a fictional small Lousiana town. After a few episodes you start appreciate characters like Sookie & Jason Stackhouse and especially Lafayette Reynolds. Although everything is all surreal it definitely doesn´t feel like that. In terms of topics, humor and accurate links to other series, internet and people True Blood might actually happen. It´s not likely I´ll order a bottle of o positive tru blood tonight but still. Vampires are all about mystery and I like that. So, for now I´m wired on True Blood like mad men. Series are the new movies and HBO is my main supplier!

As the portuguese translation for ´the hill´; ´o morro´ is also used as a synonym for slum or favela, Jeroen & Dre chose to use this name for the third stage of the Favela Painting project. I´m glad to hear ´O Morro´ is planned to start early 2010, and by donating €1000 or more to the Firmeza Foundation you become one of the co-founders of the ´O Morro´ project. So, the whole film is shot using stop-motion animation using a special "virtual command center" called the fish cat system, developed by two guys named "Fish" and Matthew Kitcat (no joke). Now, Wes could weigh in instantly on QuickTime clips sent straight to his iPhone or watch dailies that were emailed to him at all hours, where-ever he was. This intriguing process resulted in 5,229 shots with 621,450 frames that took 120 gigabytes a day and 18.5 terabyte of total storage. Seriously, Damian is very serious hahaha. But ok ok ok, he´s right you know. He puts things in perspective for me, widens my horizon which immediately creates opportunities. FS Green gives me a call. It´s 2:30 already?! Holy shit. I´m wrapping up the nice conversation-over-lunch with Damian and walk back to the office where I show Franklin around. But we need to get movin´ to Amersfoort to do this shoot ´n interview for CREATIE magazine.

No opportunity to hit the gas. Elise have to stay quiet since we´re hitting a traffic jam. again. Luckily Franklin and I have good talks and I play that new Floating Points joint. Truly amazing how it´s communicating that positive energy. Franklin agrees. We continue talking about the next level.

07. Zwart Licht - Dubtrip (FS Green Remix Instrumental)
We arrive in Amersfoort at the Noah´s Ark headquarters, an hour late. It´s good to see Jiggy Dje again and the CREATIE journalists are ready to start (for already an hour). We talk about how FS and I met, his music and his future plans. We listen to older beats of the Greenstrumentals beat tape (google that) and the new TURK album, entirely produced by mr. Green. Massive stuff! You know that one joint was off the HOOK Franklin! Too bad I was only allowed to share this (epic) Dubtrip remix. Thank god I filmed most of the session with my iPhone hahaha.

08. Lewis McCallum - Fly or Die
I was already late for dinner once we finished the photo shoot with Ilja Meefout. But hey, 30 minutes left for 55 km is do-able. Flying lotus style that is. We fly or die. I´m holding the steer wheel, FS is holding uhh nothing, just loosing the pocket change in the small racing seats. Doing a 180 on the highway with no fear. Franklin is in serious doubt if he should pick up his bike at my office. We arrive on time in Amsterdam. Franklin is taking his bike.

09. Gilles Peterson Feat. Danay - Lagrimas De Soledad
It´s hard to find a parking spot in front of Restaurant Manzano at the Rozengracht. Late for dinner with Renato, Paul and my fiancée. We´re sharing tapas and finally I get back some sense. Talking E business ´cause we´re close for new funding, as it should be. I´m a believer in their vision and support the software, focused on RFID. I checked in on Foursquare and after a minute, serial-entrepreneur Boris rushed into the restaurant. He wanted to make sure I was there and didn´t had a fake check-in (like I would do that!) and he´s inviting us for dinner tomorrow with Andrew Keen.

10. yU - Fine
The four of us hit the streets for a short stop at Struik. I preliminary checked in here on Foursquare a few minutes ago so I have to make an appearance. Otherwise my Foursquare game isn´t legit. We bump into my friend Remko who coincidentally happens to be the owner. Remko can´t wait to show us his new space for the new restaurant, called Brandstof. It´s on the corner of the Rozengracht and Marnixstraat which is like ´totally awesome´ hahaha. He´s very proud and he should be. We´re just as excited and I add this place as a new location on Foursquare. A few hours later I´m writing this blog while my future wife is already asleep. I feel rejuvenated. A new day with new energy. Everything will be fine.

I must add Ralph & Lars started filming without script or budget! It was a chance encounter with a poet that led the makers to the streets of NYC with a borrowed 16mm camera and some short-end rolls of film. Both share the ambition to create something fresh and when they edited it down to all the bits that interested them, the story line just organically evolved. Spitting Ink premieres during the International Documentary Film Festival of Amsterdam and I´ve 10 tickets to share for the last screening at the OBA on November 27. New York based filmmaker Adam Bhala Lough spent munch of 2008 on the road with Weezy shooting his intimate, in-depth portrait of Lil´ Wayne. His 80-minute footage was shown on Sundance last January and will be out on dvd in about 10 days. The Sundance critics blessed the docu; "Lough transcends even the most accomplished cinema verite documentaries to put you right inside the mind of his subject, an eccentric codeine and marijuana addict who has completely given his life over to making and promoting his music 24/7. " This got me even more excited.

Seems Weezy even admits in one poignant interview that he's too busy making music to have sex hahaha. That´s the same guy who records two songs a day, every day of the year, and never writes down a single lyric! Definitely one to watch for every one who´s into music in general. This is such a series were the last season is the best. It got all great cameo´s, with Matt Damon, Bono and Lebron James featuring in the last episode, Ari "Terminator" Gold runnin´ though his old but re-owned office with a paintball gun and even Lloyd is becoming a real Asian hahaha. Definitely recommended watching when you like to waste your time on series. So what´s next? Mad Men? True Blood? Dexter?

Although it´s not the Webby´s I do believe in the professionally people behind the Dutch Bloggies. Instead of the incapacitated jury of the Dutch Design Awards, these guys do understand the internet and the technique behind all sites & blogs. With me, livin´ the blog, trying to take this game to another, but most of all, next level it´s nice to see some kind of recognition by pro´s in the same industry. Seriously, I slept on this FWA SOTD project. Maybe it´s the Famous Belgium´s, maybe it´s me. It doesn´t matter ´cause I´m representing now. Neverrr! Besides, this is not a regular sculpture, noooo, this three days piece of work is actually a special kind of ´kicker´ for freestyle skiers and snowboarders in the shape of surf-originator Jack O´Neill surrounded by the Santa Cruz nature. Massive!O´Neill once again pushed boundaries for their latest shoot of the new winter collection.

They got Gian Simmen and World Champion freestyle skier Virginie Faivre, amongst others, flying high all night over the eight meter sculpture. Zoom in on these epic shots in my gallery if you like. I´m not going to describe all functionalities and happenings when you right-click a button. Therefore I point you to blogs like The Next Web (who´re really good in summarizing tech news, I swear!) I just gonna lay down my criteria;

- Does it looks sexy? Well, like most Google products it´s suitable for everyone. It´s like that one girl in high school that you end up marry with. She wasn´t the most sexy girl of your class but definitely was the brightest, who sticked with you all the time. And she still looks cute. It´s not temporarily porn, it´s a long term relationship.

- Does it work? Hell, how do I know!? I just played with it for a few hours. All I can say I´m into longer relationships so it probably works out just fine.

- Do I need to change my current workflow? Yes, Google Wave demands a new way of interacting with friends, colleagues, clients or all together. I don´t necessarily see this as a bad thing. Learn, unlearn and re-learn to stay on-point with current technology. All I know is that Google changed the world so why not catch this wave too?

- Do I need to share my invites so I can make better use of the Waves? Yeah I gots to. So if you want an invite, please do not e-mail me. I´m also very curious about the role of Muxtape and how they see visual & interaction design in musical perception. In my opinion, a very important factor within the (lost) music industry of today. If you have a look on the program you can see even Last.fm is sharing the lessons they´ve learned when they were just a small start up. Can you imagine? I wish I could give away tickets for this ´must-attend´ event, but heck! It´s for free. You only need to register, blah blah blah, yada yada yada.

One of my favorite We Like topics is Tatts. Pris & Eve are capturing beautiful tattoos and share those together with the stories. I´ll never get a tattoo (cause I´m too scared of needles) but it´s inspiring to see and hear the stories of people. It´s not something simple like; "yeah, I just like tribal signs" but more on that religious and spiritual tip. Besides tatts, these two twentysomething creamies will hook you up when you like to surf. It was a bit hard in the beginning without a mouse and stuff, but eventually I was going hard on the waves. And visa versa.

I now know how to surf, offline, not saying I´m the next Kelly Slater, but I know the basics haha. I know the current rates when bribing cops. It´s just a matter of opening the Background Manager, browsing the thumbnails for your favorite and click on it to activate the image full screen in the background of the site. Eazy duz it. And deep it was. Beautiful too you know. After we entered the water like James Bond in License to Kill, it was basically a matter of equalizing each time we went deeper. This to prevent getting your eardrums pop. Obviously I went faster than was necessary because I felt the force was strong in me. I sounded like Darth Vader down there so nothing could stop me. Except running out of air.

If you´re a stubborn little brat like me and laugh a lot too, even under water, you´re using a lot of air from the tanks you got on your back. So, I was running out a few (or a lot) minutes earlier than expected. So, up again, equalizing, becoming half deaf, switch tanks with instructor and back down, equalizing. Meanwhile my little mermaid found Nemo. I´ve uploaded all photos in this special diving gallery, so you could see the evidence of this wonderful experience.

On the picture above you can see me ´calling´ with the equipment (normally used as oxygen bar and to see how many meters deep you are). That time 15 meters deep which is 3 meters more advanced than beginners normally start at. But like I said, the force was strong *Darth Vader sound effect*. This movie is at least clever enough, with it´s title referring to the current era we live in, to show a huge amount of people what the world is set to look like in 2055. There´s no snow on the Alps, London is flooded and probably the Netherlands too, Australia is burning and coastal cities such as Hong Kong and Singapore are submerged. The main character (Pete Postlethwaite) is a historian who explains how the world ended up in such a state. He traces it back to a series of opportunities missed by the population of the planet in or around 2009 aka us. Stupid.

The people who came before us didn´t know about climate change and the ones who come after will be powerless to stop it so basically it´s down to us. Ain´t that a bitch? Thank god we´re in the know, let´s see if we´re able to make this era bigger than life. Put aside ego, personal branding and all that temporarily crap. Let´s embrace initiatives like Strawberry Earth so our children´s children won´t think of you as a dummy, asking themselves; Why didn´t they stop the climate change when they had the change? As I say, some people think this may be a bad thing.

So Steve, when did the idea for Stack first come to you?
The idea first hit towards the end of last summer. My friend's wife had bought him a subscription to momimomi, a US t-shirt company that sends its subscribers a different limited edition t-shirt every month. He never knew what he was going to get next, but every time I saw him he was wearing a really cool t-shirt that had just landed on his doormat.

about/ the same time I read an old blog post by Russell Davies, which ran through his advice for being interesting. One of the tips was to read a different magazine every month, because magazines are these constellations of ideas and perspectives and points of view. He meant it very broadly, but I was already writing for Little White Lies and had loved collecting independent magazines for years before that, so I put two and two together and started pondering on the concept of a service that brought together all those hard to find independent magazines and sent them out direct to people who'd love to read them. After that I did my research and tweaked the idea, but that's really where it all started.

Dope! What was the first Stack magazine back then? And how did they react when you told them about your plans?
I suppose the first one was Little White Lies. I'd been writing for them for a long time and had become friends with the people there, so I went to them first when I wanted to test my idea. Me and Danny (Miller, the magazine's publisher) went for a few lunches in the pub so that I could outline ideas and get his opinion and advice, and he played a massive part in shaping Stack. In fact the Stack design and website was all done by his company, The Church of London. Danny was really supportive of the idea from the start ? like lots of people involved in independent magazines he was excited by the prospect of finding a new way to get the magazines in front of readers who would enjoy them and potentially go on to subscribe to the magazine.

How did you go about getting your first subscribers?
I'd surveyed people online and in the street, and lots of them had given me their email addresses so that was the first group I approached ? I think I gave them a small discount as a thank you for their help. And of course I told all my friends and family, and lots of them either signed up themselves or passed it onto others. The magazines involved in Stack have also been really supportive ? it's in their interest that Stack gets bigger, so they've been helping out with free advertising space in magazines and online, mentions in emails and that sort of thing. And then there's wider press. Stack has been on Radio Four and on the Guardian's site, but the best response has come from posts written by bloggers ? either ones I've approached or ones that have come to me.

What makes Stack´s magazines special?
They're beautiful, intelligent, and they always guarantee a fresh perspective from outside the mainstream. There are lots of magazines out there that look great but don't really have much to say for themselves ? every Stack magazine is absolutely bursting to say something, and is able to do so eloquently and convincingly.

So, how do you find the magazines for Stack?
At the beginning I found magazines by going into shops and looking for them, but now it's more about reading blogs like magCulture and Magtasticblogsplosion. I'm also approached on a daily basis by magazines that want to know more about joining Stack. Of course I have to turn lots of them down for various reasons, but there are some fascinating magazines that I would never have heard of if they hadn't found me.

Will you repeat magazines, when new issues appear?
Absolutely. The idea is that I send out a different magazine every month, but once we've been through a whole year I'd be very happy to send out a new issue of a title that has already been delivered by Stack.

And which magazines would you love to include in the future?
There are lots of magazines I'd love to send out but can't. That's usually for financial reasons ? my subscribers pay just £3 per magazine so that doesn't leave much for buying and shipping them over here. Meatpaper is a lovely little magazine made in California that wanted to be part of Stack but just couldn't find the funds to subsidise the shipping of the magazines. I'd love to find a way of making that one financially viable. And just this morning I received my copy of Uppercase, 'a magazine for the creative and curious'. It's made in Calgary and I think we may have the same troubles of a small title not having enough cash to send its magazines over here, but I'll certainly give it my best shot!

Could this work for any other industry apart from magazines?
Rough Trade has its own Album Club, which delivers CDs to people every month. Like Stack, its subscribers don't know what they're going to get next, but they're happy that Rough Trade will pick something good for them. There are lots of t-shirt companies that do a similar thing, so yes, the model definitely works in other industries ? the key is to get the product right. Stack stands or falls by its magazines ? if people like what I send them they'll hopefully stay with Stack, so it's all about digging out the best magazines, doing a deal with them and getting those magazines out to my subscribers.

So, at this point of time he´s not only running the concept & design studio Anothercompany, style blog Anothersomething and the online boutique Anothershop, but also experiencing the fatherhood next to his projects. To give you a recent example of some of those projects; with Anothercompany he´s responsible for creating the visual identity of Tenue de Nîmes and the interior photography of Nothing. Not to mention this great initiative called; Thank You Too, together with Hugo Verweij.

I always love how Joachim can freak over tiny little details. For him, positivity and a never ending hunger for the aesthetic are the main ingredients of his work and life; Get inspired and inspire people to stay hungry, to take that extra step forward and explore new realms. Nuff said right?! Not quite.
