To understand nerds, you simply need a handbook like this. Still relevant and possibly very helpful wether to decide you are a nerd yourself or, if not, some of your friends are. Nerds are fucking funny. I kid you not. So do not let them fool you. Understand your nerd's relation to the computer. It's cliché, but a nerd is defined by his computer, and you need to understand why.

Last Friday I spent the day with a brand new Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. Yes, the new Gullwing inspired on its illustrious, legendary predecessor. I´m not going to bore you with specs which you can google. I´m just telling you what´s up. I felt like a sinner with this super car, afraid taking the highway because this thing goes beyond fast without even noticing. The car itself doesn´t go unnoticed. Literally everybody is attracted to have a proper look. Even when flying on the highway, people are taking pictures while driving next to you.

This all started with one hilarious email by Mercedes if I was interested to ´borrow´ the car for a day. Halle-fucking-lu-yeah! I played cool, replying and set the date on last Friday. I picked up the beauty with my charming intern Yoji Moniz, who shot some footage on video. She also captured some images of us fooling around which I decided to share via this online gallery. I reckon this is risky material, but it sure looks good. Before going all electric with the handsome Tesla, this ´Gullwing´ experience was really amazing like a bachelor party.

Not only I felt like a kid driving with the wings open, I also never drove 280 before. Living in my own world like I was part of the M.A.S.K. crusaders and fought the evil Spectrum. Damn I can´t wait to watch that series again. Anyway, beautiful ladies were eyeballing me. Traffic jams seems to take seconds instead of ages. Valerio couldn´t stop smiling. Yoji felt asleep while driving. Even granny thought it was a beauty, and if even your grandma likes it, there´s not much left to share. I got that remark on camera btw an will post this after the edit.

Om er een eind aan te breien. If you have a shitload of money to spent and wants to have a lot of sex, this is the car for you! The new Gullwing brings back sexappeal not only to you, but also to Mercedes. Although I love the ´old Gullwing´ even more, this collabo between Mercedes-Benz and AMG on the SLS is a worthy successor of its predecessor. A contemporary classic, creating a new heritage amongst digital natives.

Last week the team behind Little White Lies announced Invert Look, a new magazine devoted to exploring the ever-expanding world of videogames. Because I´m a strong believer in The Church of London, I´m confident Invert Look will have their solid content packed in good design. My friend Jelle, who introduced me to LWL and sucks at Killzone 2, also suggested to mention the book Extra Lives; Why Video Games Matter of Tom Bissell. After reading this interview you understand why.

What I like most is the fact Invert Look will not focus on reviews, previews and fanboy rants. Instead, they will be focusing on informative, entertaining and grown-up features that get to grips with the new ways in which videogames are exerting an influence over all areas of our pop-culture world. After playing games like Heavy Rain, Killzone 2 and more recently Red Dead Redemption I noticed the storytelling of gaming is grown-up and thanks to the graphics and interactivity, gaming is now the most consumed medium ever!

Tesla Motors Factory Visit

Today me and Bas went to visit the factory of Tesla Motors in Palo Alto. Since my last experience driving a Tesla Roadster last week, I became sort of addicted. It´s like crack, but the eco-friendly type. Heavy accelerating isn´t a waste of gas anymore, but goes unnoticed. Driving Tesla is like flying a spaceship (although I never flew a spaceship, yet). Anyway, after a few mails and calls we were expected this morning at the factory to see what´s really happening down there. >>

I must add we needed to rent a car since it´s a 45-minute drive from downtown SF to Palo Alto. Destiny decided we got an orange Chevy Camaro. Things could have been worse. With bumblebee we went to see Tesla. At the factory we met Ernie who showed us around. Ernie is a funny guy with a lot of humor who told us all about the history of Tesla. Which is like a 4 minute story since they started in 2004. Ernie showed us the batteries, the process of how the cars were crafted by hand and introduced us too Rob.

Rob is the kind of guy you wouldn´t notice in a bar, but got super powers at the same time. He´s responsible for checking the cars before they will be delivered to the clients. Have a look at Rob´s test driving skills hahaha. I couldn´t notice the Roadster resembles with my own Lotus Elise. Maybe that was the whole reason I felt very attracted to Tesla. Ernie explained Tesla is like 6% Lotus. The chassis, some buttons and the roof are the same, all made in the Lotus factory. The speed isn´t! This car kicks ass. Tesla eats Ferrari´s for breakfast!

Apart from the whole electric driving eco-thing, Tesla is bringing high performance with sexy looks and I was dying to hit the uhh electric power ´gas´ myself. So I did. You can easily drive 90 mph in 4 seconds without a doubt. It´s insane! Sure, this type of driving will result in blinking low battery lights, but we neglected that fact when we went to light-speed in the Tesla Roadster Sport. Full battery means; being able to drive 300 km and charging will take 4 hrs. Low battery means; search for power in a range of 25 meters. All I can say is I can´t wait to explore more of this back home!

Today I stumbled upon this little boutique store INVS (Invisible Stripes), right around the corner on Post street. The very appealing black / gold varsity jacket, hanging in the window, triggered my attention. Inside INVS it was small & cosy, just the way I like it. The varsity jacket was produced by this little brand from San Francisco called MISTER, abbreviated as Mr. and I became an instant fan. Such a shame the smaller sizes were sold out. Thankfully Mr. is the multitasking kind of guy and offers different garments.

Mister is not about disposable fashion, but likes to update the classic, basic items, like the very soft Henly shirts, with subtle details and fabrics. For each piece sold Mr. will donate a percentage of the sales to a local charity in the Tender-Nob area, which got serious impoverish conditions haha. I suggest to visit the store and get familiar with MISTER. Shit is legit quality and lasting style at a fair price. I don´t want to say affordable because that is relevant to how much you make.

Personalization at WeTransfer

Back in San Francisco for some business! Let me explain what I´m doing here: as you may know I´m one of the 3 founders of WeTransfer, an online file transfer service. We basically strive to make transferring files as easy and pleasant as possible for anyone. Sure, tech savvy heads will get more satisfaction by awesome services like Dropbox, but like I always say; WeTransfer is for everyone AND their parents. My job in particular as CMO (Chief Marketing Officer) is to make WeTransfer globally known as the number 1 file transfer service. Quite challenging huh!?

One of the things which I think (so does the company) will help achieving this goal is creating personalized channels via sub domains. Personalization is everywhere so that´s a no brainer. I´m reaching out to people, companies and brands to create such a channel which will get people to use WeTransfer and spread the word. Still, 1 on 3 users of WeTransfer is generating a new user. I´m confident adding personalized channels will help reaching critical mass even sooner. What do you think? Would you like to have your own Wallpaper Background for uploading/downloading files for your clients or friends?

I´m looking forward to some proper feedback. Best ones will ´win´ their own personalized channel, ´cause besides transferring your files, we like to put a smile on your face too. How do we keep our servers running and pay the bills? Well, currently we offer the same type of Wallpaper Advertising as I´m doing on Nalden.net. And yes, we´re open for business so have a look on wetransfer.info for more information about advertising on wetransfer.com or contact me.

Denim is here to stay. Although it´s experiencing heavy hype, what happened to sneakers and customized t-shirts, it´s definitely less accessible. Thank god. One of the brands that caught me´eye is Edwin. Born in 1947 in Japan. Edwin is an anagram for 'denim' flipping the M upside down to make a W, and were the first to drop the worn look and the stonewash in the 80s, revolutionizing denim wear. So far the history lesson. I recently acquired the Edwin ED47 with Rainbow Selvage and became so excited I have got to share this enthusiasm.

Wearing this jeans it´s like hearing; "Ain't nobody dope as me, I'm dressed so fresh so clean" all the time. I like this regular fit jeans from Edwin´s famous raw Indigo, red salvage Japanese denim. This stiffness makes your jeans transform. All stuff you carry leave outlines after a period of time which shows I´m carrying my iPhone in my left pocket. The contrast on the details is tight, the Edwin logo tag coming out of the stitching on the back pocket is fresh. The colour is dope. The cut is clean. Add the exclusive Rainbow selvage and you have another must have denim. For happy customers only haha.
